The (New Zealand) Hamilton Jazz Society exists as a co-operative to bring high quality Jazz music to its members and also to develop new jazz talent (both young and mature) by providing a vehicle for their development. The membership is varied - various groupings enjoy different jazz styles and different dance styles - and the committee seeks to provide a varied program that will cater to all of these groupings. We have a strongly defended tenent, however, within that variety, that the music should not be too loud - we do not seek to provide "head-banging music" at any time. On some evenings the music will be suited to dance, on other evenings to sitting and listening.

We welcome visitors to our meetings. Bring a group and enjoy the music, the dancing, or both. To get there, take the Te Rapa road North from Hamilton, and turn left at Garnett Ave. At the roundabout go right into Ken Browne Drive which takes you directly into the Race Course grounds. The venue is upstairs and the music should lead you there.
The Hamilton Jazz Society also welcomes card carrying members of other jazz clubs and societies and offers them admission at 'Member's Rates'.
